General Anxiety
General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), or anxiety in general can creep into driving scenarios. Are you caught in a loop of overthinking?
Modelling behaviour
Did mum or dad have amaxophobia? Observing or hearing a person talk about their fear of driving can cause it too.
New Drivers
Lack of experience can cause driving anxiety. Social anxiety, self esteem issues and people pleasing can make it worse.
Confidence to drive
Susan’s passed her driving test after 4 attempts, but then moved to Switzerland, where driving on the opposite side of the road deterred her from driving for 10 years. Returning to London in 2022, Susan tried driving again but was overwhelmed by intense anxiety. The mere thought of driving filled her with dread.
