About Me

How are you, really?

Does it sometimes feel like you are having to put on a brave face while your inner world feels fragile at best? Are you trying to navigate the challenges of your workplace while vying for a promotion and also trying to navigate a difficult time in your marriage, with your children or life in general? Top that with living in a big city like London, perhaps away form family and help, and the stressors easily multiply.

I understand firsthand the challenges and strains of life, especially in fast paced environments, having spent 16 years in consulting myself. My journey through these experiences has equipped me with a unique perspective and a deep empathy for those facing similar struggles. You are not the only one who is struggling. And we can change this narrative.

About me

Hey there, so nice to meet you. My name is Chinmai Gupta and I am a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist and Leadership trainer, mentor and coach. I have completely transformed my own way of thinking, of reacting to situations and to people and with stress and anxiety using the tools that I have. I have got rid of my negative thought spirals e.g. health related anxiety and my misophonia, where certain sounds like chewing sounds trigger strong negative emotional responses. As you can imagine, I am now extremely passionate about the transformational benefits of my therapies and I take great pride in the work I do.

I have always been an empath and understanding what causes people physical or psychological pain and finding ways to eliminate it from their lives gives me a great sense of purpose and achievement. This desire to try and improve people’s life experiences led me to becoming a therapist after spending 16 years in consulting.

My career allowed me to work with and serve several industries, including publishing, insurance, sport, recruitment, charities and retail. I saw how hard it was for people across the board to nurture their families and relationships along with a stressful 10 hour job and commute. So many stories come to mind when I think of my corporate career. One of my colleagues would bang his keyboard in frustration making everyone around jump, and another would constantly bad-mouthed people behind their backs. These might sound like small things, but they all add up, leading to people feeling constantly stressed out, frustrated and less confident which in turn affects relationships, physical and mental wellbeing. You don't need to live this way. You can train your mind to let go, to be happy.

My true passion has always been to touch lives in a meaningful and positive way and my practice helps me do just that. Everything I do is evidence based and backed by science.

Values

It's important that you find a therapist with whom you can open up and be yourself. Here are some of my values to give you an idea of what sort of person and therapist I might be.

  • Be the catalyst for change. Nothing great was achieved by being stagnant.
  • Respect everyone unconditionally.
  • Acting with integrity at all costs.
  • Be honest to my work and all clients I see.
  • Family and health above everything.
  • Find solutions with compassion.
  • Never stop learning.

My approach

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and evidenced based Clinical Hypnotherapy. This is a unique approach to therapy and has a powerful and lasting impact on clients. I further integrate self hypnosis and Mindfulness techniques into my practice making the sessions particularly calming and effective. By relaxing, thinking positively and picturing your goals, cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy can help you change how you think, feel and behave.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a highly effective way to make positive and lasting changes in your life. The methods I use are evidence-based and are particularly effective in treating problems relating to stress and anxiety.

Our thoughts have a powerful affect on our body. Think about the time your heart skips a beat when you see someone stand at the edge of a cliff or when someone cuts across a queue. We can use this mind-body connection to our advantage and through the power of suggestion, achieve incredible results.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that changing one can transform the rest.

Unlike many other approaches to therapy and treatment, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past. It gives you practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.
